Motivational Interviewing and Enhancement Counseling

Motivational Interviewing and Enhancement Counseling will identify, define, and develop skills based on the 4 principle skills of OARS: open-ended questions, affirmation, reflection, and summarizing. We’ll then move to learn skills for supporting self-efficacy, rolling with the resistance, developing discrepancy, and expressing empathy. Lastly, we’ll learn and utilize the skills of scaling to identify barriers to accomplishing This workshop will cover both addiction and mental health case studies.
OBJECTIVES:
- Participants will learn and practice OARS, Scaling, and basic skills of MI.
- Participants will learn and practice expressing empathy, developing discrepancy, rolling with client resistance, and avoiding direct confrontation
