This training will cover the DSM 5 diagnostic criteria for substance use disorders, and many co-occurring disorders such as depression, anxiety, bipolar, and personality disorders. We will discuss how to differentiate symptoms of substance use and post-acute withdrawal from the pathology of other mental disorders. The challenges and ethics of appropriate and responsible diagnosis of co-occurring disorders will also be discussed.
