6 contact hours - NCSAPPB approved substance abuse specific (SS) + NBCC approved provider

This workshop will aid the counselor in defining and exploring religion and spirituality in the context of counseling. We’ll examine the research around the benefits of spiritual practice for wellness. Participants will develop hands-on practical counseling skills for supporting client’s spiritual/religious exploration, practice and growth. In addition, we will explore and define your own spiritual understanding both personally and as a counselor - as one typically informs the other. We’ll identify community resources for spiritual support, and last but not least we’ll develop a plan for incorporating spirituality into your counseling practice as a recovery model.

This workshop will use both dual diagnosis and SA case studies for practicing counselor skills.

OBJECTIVES:
  • Participants will develop hands on practical counseling skills for supporting client’s spiritual/religious exploration, practice, and growth.
  • Participants will identify ongoing community resources to support clients’ spiritual growth.

Lunch served. We look forward to seeing you there!
